Toshiba Launches Three High Volume Solutions

Press release from the issuing company

Irvine, CA Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS), Electronic Imaging Division, today announced three new additions to its revolutionary e-STUDIO digital copier line, the e-STUDIO55, 65 and 80. This new line of digital copiers is designed to bring outstanding image quality and advanced finishing features in a product designed to meet the demands of pay for print facilities and large workgroups that utilize a departmental copier. "These new additions to the e-STUDIO line produce high quality images that are unrivaled by the competition, and at the same time meet the fast production and high volume output demands necessary for today's businesses," said Mark Mathews, Vice President of Marketing, (TABS). For copies that look as good as the originals, the e-STUDIO line features Toshiba's breakthrough 4-Channel Parallel CCD (Charged Coupling Device) Scanner Unit, an innovative 4-Beam Laser design and Scalable Smoothing Technology. A 256-Level Gray Scale gives outstanding photo and graphics reproduction. Featuring a speedy first-copy out time of 3.6 seconds and an ultra-reliable print engine, the e-STUDIOs boast a high duty cycle and low cost per copy. Monthly copy volume and preventative maintenance is 340,000 copies for the e-STUDIO55, 400,000 for the e-STUDIO65 and 440,000 for the e-STUDIO80. A Touch Screen Control Panel displays the e-STUDIO's powerful copier functions in an uncluttered easy-to-understand text and graphics format while a Graphical Service Guidance System provides step-by-step instructions on clearing occasional misfeeds or replacing toner. Standard Electronic Sorting automatically collates your copies and produces virtually unlimited sets. Built in "Limitless" First In, First Out (FIFO) Automatic Duplexing handles two-sided copying or printing tasks. Each model features Automatic Controlled Exposure, Automatic Paper Selection and Reversing Document Handling (RDH). Professional Document Finishing Features The e-STUDIO55, 65 and 80 boast three 500 sheet cassettes, a 4,000 Sheet Large Capacity Feeder and a 100 sheet Stack Feed "Smart" Bypass Tray for papers of varying size and weight for a combined paper capacity of 5,600 sheets. A handy Magazine Sort feature (Booklet Making Mode) takes full advantage of the copier's built-in duplexing and digital technology to produce precisely laid-out professional-looking booklets from originals. Optional equipment allows offices to expand their document finishing capabilities with either a Multi-Position Stapling Finisher or a Multi-Position Stapling Finisher with Saddle-Stitch capabilities. With Saddle-Stitching, users can produce up to 60-page bounded booklets with either Letter or Ledger-size paper. Another option is the Hole Punch, which provides either two or three hole punch capabilities depending on the user's needs. Print On Demand With Document Storage In addition to outstanding image quality, the e-STUDIO55, 65, 80 digital copiers come standard with 32 MB of Memory and a 3.2 GB Hard Disk Drive that provides up to 24 separate locations for storing up to 2,400 pages of frequently used office documents such as forms, reports or brochures. These can be quickly recalled and printed on demand once they are scanned into the copier. Two Fully Networked Solutions By choosing either an optional Embedded Controller or the feature-rich SC-2 controller, businesses can turn their e-STUDIO systems into a multifunctional copier, printer and scanner. SC-2 Controller The more extensive SC-2 controller option supports PostScript3( and PCL6 Page Description Languages and Windows, Unix and Macintosh operating systems over a wide variety of network protocols. With the Optional Scan To File feature, the e-STUDIO55, 65 and 80 can each be turned into large volume TWAIN-Compliant Network Scanners allowing users to scan a document back to the SC-2's 10GB HDD, their workstation or elsewhere on the network in various file formats including PDF and TIFF. A Scan-to-E-mail option allows for scanning documents to one or multiple e-mail addresses in a single step. Businesses can further expand their document processing with tandem printing and copying capabilities. The tandem printing feature allows users to operate two e-STUDIOs in tandem, for printing up to 160 pages per minute, providing a cost-effective alternative to competitor's high-speed production models. Tandem copying allows users to scan a document on one system and have two e-STUDIO copiers produce the output together, cutting the processing time in half. The SC-2 Controller option also features Client/Server Management Software so network administrators can operate and monitor their entire print system directly from their desktops via an Internet browser. Users can look at one or all of the SC-2 equipped systems on the network via their Internet browser software for up to the moment device feedback. A detailed print driver allows for complete device control. Graphic icons allow users to designate ouput trays as well as paper source and stapling options. For example, users can choose to insert cover sheets and interleave pages or select precisely where they want a document stapled, just by clicking on the appropriate graphic icon. They can also receive notification of job completion and when toner and paper need to be replaced. Embedded Controller A low cost alternative to the SC-2 is an embedded controller option which provides complete PostScript( Level II, PCL5e and PCLXL printing, allowing network users to enjoy the digital advantages of having a powerful copier/printer at their disposal with large paper capacity and advanced paper handling capabilities. The embedded controller features browser-based status and management software known as TopAccess that also provides job status to all users of the system. Energy Star compliant, the e-STUDIO55, 65 and 80 each boast an environmentally friendly OPC Drum, which is made from organic biodegradable materials. Each unit's extraordinarily long preventive maintenance cycle means less down time and lower costs for service and replaceables. The modular architecture accommodates interchangeable Toshiba accessories and supplies that eliminate having to purchase and store a variety of toner, developer and other copier and printer products.
