R. R. Donnelley Direct and Industry Partners Choose MassTransit Enterprise

Press release from the issuing company

Arlington, VA - June 20, 2001 - Group Logic, a leading vendor of network workflow software to the print media industry, announced today that a three-company supply chain including RRD Direct, the direct mail marketing arm of worldwide printing giant RR Donnelley & Sons Co., has adopted the MassTransit Enterprise software. The three companies have licensed Group Logic's digital file transfer and remote proofing software to produce the large-scale direct marketing campaigns of a leading financial services corporation. MassTransit Enterprise will be exhibited at Print 01, McCormick Place Complex, Chicago, in September. RRD Direct will use MassTransit Enterprise to exchange mission-critical digital files via the Internet with CFM Direct, a multi-channel marketing agency with expertise in response media, and Atlantic Envelope, a leading provider of custom printed envelopes that is a division of the Fortune 500 corporation National Service Industries, Inc. "Automating file transfer across the entire supply chain will help RRD Direct and our business partners deliver the highest quality of services to our mutual end-customer," said Stephen Morris, manager of technology at RRD Direct. "We chose MassTransit Enterprise because it is the most comprehensive file transfer automation solution, the easiest to implement, and the most effective in reducing costs and delays." "Quality and efficiency are always priorities at CFM Direct. MassTransit Enterprise supports our goals by automating remote file transfers and proofing workflows among the industry partners," noted Peter Harper, director of production for CFM Direct. In this process, RRD Direct provides logistics and database services for the financial services giant's marketing programs, including list acquisition and implementation; CFM Direct performs the design and creative work for direct marketing materials to be inserted in envelopes created by Atlantic Envelope. A MassTransit Enterprise server at CFM Direct's location handles jobs received from the remote MassTransit Enterprise servers, clients and satellite servers at the other companies' facilities and automatically forwards incoming jobs to all CFM Direct personnel assigned to the account, as well as to the financial services corporation for approval. MassTransit Enterprise uses its "Action" feature to publish all work to a "PDF warehouse" from which files can be downloaded by the other members of the supply chain. MassTransit Enterprise uses another Action to print all incoming PDFs to CFM Direct's Epson printer. The software's unique e-mail notification feature keeps users in all locations apprised of file arrival and other transactions. "We are pleased that this team of top-quality vendors has selected MassTransit Enterprise as their file transfer solution," said Andy Lewis, vice president of marketing and sales for Group Logic. "As with other adoptions of our product by entire supply chains, these market leaders recognize the value of end-to-end automation of the network workflow in ensuring successful marketing communications programs for their key customers." Group Logic offers three complementary product lines: * MassTransit Enterprise: a "digital shipping and receiving department" that completely automates and manages the process of transferring graphics, multimedia, and other production files between print media suppliers and their customers. * Imagexpo: a complete remote soft proofing solution that uses sophisticated annotation and interactive conferencing capabilities to provide faster, more efficient multi-location review and approval of text and graphics prior to production of print media. * ExtremeZ-IP: file and print server software that uses the TCP/IP protocol to increase throughput as much as fivefold between Macintosh clients and Microsoft Windows servers. ExtremeZ-IP enhances native support for Macintosh communications on Windows NT Server and Workstation, as well as Windows 2000 Server and Professional. Users experience dramatic return on investment through increased productivity resulting from superior network performance.
