Survey: Manufacturing Firms Most Likely User of Labels, Digital/Variable Print

Lexington, Kentucky, USA - May 21, 2001 - WhatTheyThink.com, a leading Internet portal serving the graphic arts industry, has just completed a study of print buyers within manufacturing companies throughout the United States. The study focused on 1059 buyers of print services within the industry segment and the types of print they outsource. Highlights from Manufactures: When asked to describe their relationship with their primary print vendor: 67 percent of manufacturers describe their relationship with their printer as good. When asked to the criteria most important in selecting a print related vendor: 27 percent of those surveyed said price was most important in selecting a print related vendor. When asked which of the following services do you use an outside vendor for: 49 percent of buyers use an outside vendor for labels. Of all industry segments surveyed, manufacturers led this and the digital/variable print category. When asked if they would consider a print vendor outside their immediate area: 41 percent of manufacturers said they would consider a print vendor outside their immediate area.
