Cambridge, UK May 8, 2001 Harlequin, a subsidiary of Global Graphics (Nasdaq Europe: GLGR, Euronext: GLOG) has reached agreement on OEM software licenses for MaxWorkFlow - its visual workflow design tool - with a number of leading printing and graphics arts industry systems integrators and suppliers. The agreements indicate a steady rise in market demand for this open architecture product from the newspaper and commercial printing industry. Harlequin acquired the MaxWorkFlow product line from Harris Systems last year in a strategic move to broaden its software solutions for OEMs. Compose Systems has forecasted purchasing over 80 systems in the first year to add value to its existing products. Compose specializes in the development of high-quality digital color printing solutions for the commercial printing, publishing and prepress industries. It has a well-established worldwide distribution channel of OEMs and Value Added Resellers and distributors and provides Harlequin based RIP printing solutions. This agreement provides access to MaxWorkFlow for over 150 output devices, including image setters/plate setters, color copiers/digital printers monochrome/color proofers, large format printers and inkjet printers. "The modular architecture and configuration flexibility of MaxWorkFlow, combined with Compose Systems extensive list of supported output devices, will allow users to easily integrate and enhance existing equipment while providing a robust, scalable solution to address future requirements", says Daniel McAvoy, president of Compose Systems Inc. RTI is shipping MaxWorkFlow to its US customers this month. A distributor of electronic pre-press products focussed on cost-effective image setting solutions for commercial printers, publishers, service bureaus and other users of electronic publishing equipment RTI sells its products internationally through a network of experienced graphic arts dealers. "Our distribution channels are really excited about this product which is priced much more competitively than other solutions", says Ken Hillier, president of RTI." they also like the fact that it integrates easily into their existing environments and provides an upgrade path to meet their future requirements." ECRM Imaging Systems, a long-standing Harlequin customer, has recently secured substantial new customers for MaxWorkFlow and has completed installations in two major newspaper publications in Hawaii and Spain and commercial printers in Oregon and New York. ECRM Imaging Systems develops, manufactures and markets image setters, thermal- and visible-light plate setters, and digital halftone proofers. Its plate setters and proofers have been responsible for lowering price thresholds for entry into CTP technology. "We are marketing complete solutions to the commercial printing and publishing industries and have been working with MaxWorkFlow for the last 12 – 18 months. Having MaxWorkFlow provides us with a state-of-the-art digital front end to image setter and CtP sales that we didn't have before", says John De Vito, director of worldwide marketing for ECRM Imaging Systems. James Freidah, chief operations officer, Global Graphic's Printing Software Division says, "Our current level of activity shows that our prediction of market demand when we acquired the MWF product is well on track. We are now happy to have four OEMs and their distribution channels on line and are pleased to be launching the first wave of deliveries into this channel."
