Finance VP, Gary Peterson to Retire from Wausau-Mosinee Paper

Mosinee, WI April 26, 2001Wausau-Mosinee Paper Corporation (NYSE:WMO) announced today that Gary P. Peterson, Senior Vice President, Finance, Secretary and Treasurer, will retire effective April 30, 2001. Mr. Peterson will be available to assist the company for a period of time on certain issues following his retirement. The company expects to announce a successor to Mr. Peterson on or about May 1, 2001. Wausau-Mosinee Paper Corporation is a major producer of fine printing and writing papers and technical specialty papers. The company also produces and markets "away-from-home" towel and tissue products.
