J. Michael Riley Named Harland Vice President and Controller

ATLANTA (February 08, 2001) - John H. Harland Company (NYSE: JH) announced today that J. Michael Riley has joined the company as vice president and controller. Riley, who reports to Charles Carden, Harland's chief financial officer, is responsible for financial reporting, budgets, forecasting, accounts payable, taxes and asset management. Riley brings almost 30 years experience in financial management to the position, most recently from AGL Resources Inc. (NYSE: ATG) where he was senior vice president and chief financial officer. Prior to that, he held a number of positions of increasing responsibility with Atlanta Gas Light Company. "We're delighted to have Mike as part of Harland's financial team," said Carden. "His proven ability to combine strategic planning with financial management will serve us well as we continue to focus on increasing shareholder value."
