Durst Dice America Introduces Lynx System

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, NY - - April 18, 2001 - - Durst Dice America (DDA) debuts a unique system for automatically making graphic jobs visual and available on the Internet. The Lynx system creates thumbnails for each page or image with a user searchable database. By expediting the approval process with on-line images as visual references to work in process, graphic arts companies, such as printers, graphics service providers and corporate marketers can trim turn around times, increase revenue and improve client communication. Lynx is an efficient, low cost, gateway web server application for all companies looking to leverage the power of instant remote viewing through the Internet. Lynx features can be integrated into an existing homepage - and simply accessed by going to the companies' website. Lynx software, installed within a customer supplied stand alone Windows NT/2000 server, resides on the companies' network. Coupled with a connection to the web - Lynx easily recreates an image of any original file, whether PS, EPS, Tiff, PCD, PDF etc., for web communication. Lynx automatically makes a thumbnail, a 72 dpi viewfile, and instantly uploads the files and client search information to DDA's transparent hosting site -- all while the original hi-res file stays in the possession and full control of the graphic arts company. Customers can access the files with a web browser from anywhere in the world by keying in the proper access code supplied by the graphic arts companies. Lynx greatly differs from the standard graphic arts practice of creating FTP sites for client communication and job transfer. With Lynx: Eliminate the manual process of creating thumbnail and 72 dpi viewfiles; Provide clients and service businesses with quality visuals of all job materials; Allow companies to enter and search meta-data, makes locating job files easier; Provide on-line database capabilities to manage web activities. Lynx also eliminates the high cost associated with an in-house database which requires designated servers, RAIDS, an IT manager, and 24/7 customer support. These services are an integral part of Lynx.
