RISO Demonstrates New RP3790 Digital Printer/Duplicator at Gutenberg

Press release from the issuing company

LONG BEACH, CALIF. (May 17, 2001) - RISO, Inc., headquartered in Danvers, Massachusetts, the world's leading manufacturer of digital Printer-Duplicators, supplies and accessories, today demonstrated the increased productivity achieved by its new RP3790 high-speed digital Printer-Duplicator featuring multiple feed trays, at the Gutenberg Festival in Long Beach, California. The RP3790 Printer-Duplicator has three paper trays, each of which can accommodate 1,000 sheets of letter-, legal- or ledger-sized paper. Working directly from a desktop PC or Mac, or directly from the platen, users can access one or more of the trays for each print job, greatly increasing productivity and eliminating the need to stop for a paper change during a job. If there is no need -2- for multiple paper stocks on a particular job, the same sized paper can be loaded into all three trays for longer, uninterrupted print runs. On the output side, the RP3790's receivingtray automatically adjusts to the paper sizes being used for each job. In addition to offering the benefits of multiple feed trays, the RP3790 incorporates all the advanced features of the new RP3700 digital Printer-Duplicator also making its debut at the Gutenberg Festival. These include a built-in system controller, allowing easy and seamless connectability to virtually any network, and designed to use a minimum of bandwidth when accepting jobs over a network; fully automatic digital scanning, which automatically identifies photos and text on each page and then varies the print density and contrast to produce the finest print quality each time; and proprietary RISO printer-drivers embedded in the system controller to result in optimal printing of high-end graphics. Newly designed print monitoring software lets users monitor printing workflow efficiently from the desktop. The RP3790 also features a built-in 32-megabyte memory card for storing jobs in the unit without taking up space in the printer's memory. The RP3790 Printer-Duplicator can produce copies at speeds ranging from 60 to 120 pages per minute and, as with all RISO Printer-Duplicators, offers the option of accent color from a palette of 18 standard and unlimited custom colors. It can accept a wide range of accessories, including a continuous-feed envelope feeder and a variable information printer that together enable high-speed -3- addressing. Its user-friendly, large-format touch screen is intuitively designed for fingertip control and gives complete details of all operations, consumable levels and queued jobs. "Customers have told us that a RISO digital Printer-Duplicator with a multiple feed tray option would add even more value and convenience to what is already a remarkably versatile and cost-efficient product," said Dan Weil, President and CEO, RISO, Inc. "And, as always, we have listened to our customers. The RP3790 takes all the advanced features of the new RP3700 and adds multiple feed trays for immediate versatility for each job."
