Chris Gulker Joins RealTimeImage As VP of Worldwide Marketing

San Bruno, CA -- May 16, 2001 ˆ RealTimeImage Inc. (RTI), a leading Internet infrastructure company providing imaging products and services for the graphic arts and medical communities, today announces that industry veteran Chris Gulker has joined the company as Vice President, Worldwide Marketing. Gulker, whose 20 years experience in technology marketing and publishing includes key positions with companies such as Apple Computer, is now responsible for marketing RealTimeImage‚s RealTimeProof product line throughout North America and the world. Gulker will promote RealTimeImage solution capabilities to graphic arts professionals worldwide, as well as provide internal planning and support for existing and future product initiatives. Gulker moves into the VP Marketing position formerly held by Yehuda Messinger, now RTI's Vice President, Business Development. Prior to joining the RealTimeImage team, Gulker balanced writing, speaking and consulting engagements with his work as Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Montclare Technologies, Inc. Gulker was also Director of Strategic and Industry Relations for Apple Computer's Design & Publishing Markets group. As publishing business development manager, Gulker launched Apple's Design & Publishing Web site in 1995 and later worked on the now-famous turnaround under Steve Jobs, being promoted to Director late in 1998. Previous to his tenure with Apple, Gulker served as Director of Development at the San Francisco Examiner, where he launched www.examiner.com. He had already led The Examiner's pioneering desktop publishing and digital imaging projects, which resulted in the first large, color metro daily produced on the Macintosh desktop. Before joining the Examiner, Gulker worked as a photographer at the Los Angeles Herald Examiner under editors Jim Bellows and Mary Ann Dolan, and while there was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. As a freelancer he worked for the Picture Group and Saba agencies, and has been published in Time, Newsweek, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Glamour, and The New York Times, among other publications. Gulker has spoken widely on the future of publishing, addressing publishing industry groups including: Seybold Seminars; The Newspaper Association of America; Printing Industries of America and IFRA. He has also spoken internationally at events such as The World Association of Newspapers; Grafex; the European Workforce Development Conference; the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers Association in Australia, and The Page Conference and Seybold Seminars in Tokyo. Gulker has also been a regular presenter at MacWorld in San Francisco, New York and Taipei, as well as Apple Expo in the UK. Gulker writes a biweekly technology column for The Independent (London) and resides in Menlo Park, California.
