Macromedia Delivers International Online Stores

San Francisco, California -May 16, 2001-Macromedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: MACR) today announced the availability of international online stores for France, Germany, Japan, and the UK. This rollout is part of Macromedia's continuing global strategy to deliver local versions of its software, Web sites, and online stores that take into account the unique requirements of their target audience. The stores can be found at http://www.macromedia.com/international/buy/ "Some of the fastest growing markets for our professional Web solutions targeting designers and developers are outside the United States, so Macromedia wants to ensure every market we serve has an experience that speaks to them," said Ulrich Paulin, director of international e-commerce, Macromedia. "Macromedia already has a global Web presence and sales offices, but we want to make navigating the site and buying products in the native languages of our international customers." Macromedia already delivers international versions of its Web site to 12 different regions, which all include community interaction, customer showcases, and trial software. The online stores all feature local language, currency, and products, including electronic software distribution with resumable downloads and the ability to purchase CDs and manuals. Customers will also be able to order boxed products online. As part of the launch of these stores, Macromedia has several special offers available in different regions. Macromedia is delivering eight language versions of the Quick Start Collection, which enables new users of Macromedia Dreamweaver 4 Fireworks 4 Studio to achieve professional results without specialized knowledge. The collection simplifies common tasks such as building online photo albums and publishing professional-quality Web content from Microsoft Word and FrontPage. Macromedia University offers a free online training course available in both French and German for customers who purchase the Macromedia UltraDev 4 Fireworks 4 Studio. Other Macromedia University courses will be available in these languages later this year.
