(October 15, 2008, Rolling Meadows, IL) At Graph Expo 08, Komori will demonstrate three state of the art printing presses focused on helping printers maximize productivity and profitability. Under the banner "The Journey is What Moves You," Komori will demonstrate three printing presses that will show attendees how easy it is to get jobs on and off a Komori press-critical in reducing cost and waste. "Our Komori 'kando' philosophy drives our exhibit at Graph Expo 08," says Stephan Carter, President and COO of Komori America Corporation. "With the current economic turmoil and the highly competitive nature of the printing market, we feel it is our responsibility to provide as much printing press technology as possible in our booth. Time is money, and printers attending Graph Expo want to see as much as possible in one location, and also have the opportunity to compare features and benefits. We believe our variety of presses and our demonstrations will allow visitors to our booth the opportunity to get a good idea of how Komori can help them succeed." In booth #619 in McCormick Place South, Komori will demonstrate the soon to be released LSX40; stress the high performance and fast job cycle time of the LSX29 and highlight the versatility of the small footprint Spica 29P.

The LSX40: The latest evolution of Komori's award winning LS platform

The LSX40, demonstrated at drupa 08, features a host of upgraded features designed to further improve print quality and job cycle times. Mechanical enhancements include a maximum production speed of 18,000sph; a maximum sheet size of 29-17/32"x41-11/32", and enhanced feeder and delivery for increased sheet stability and print quality. In addition, new higher speed fully automatic plate changing with non stop plate removal, helps increase the speed of job to job changeover, essential for busy printers handling various run lengths. Plus, the high speed start function enables the press to start printing at 12,000 sheets per hour reducing makeready waste to just 20 sheets. The LSX40 also features Komori's proprietary new advanced interface software that can reduce job cycle times up to 50%. The new AI technology allows all press functions to be preset from the console, saving time and money. In addition, the AI software also has self-learning technology that progressively updates press settings over time to reduce waste. To demonstrate the fast job changeover, each of the four daily demonstrations will run three jobs running three different paper stocks and sheet sizes. "What is exciting is that, as we refine the technology on the LSX40 before we go to market, many of the features that will shown at Graph Expo are now available on our market leading LS40 in its new LS40Ai version," says Carter. "We believe that our single minded focus on offset printing technology is what allows us to continually make these kinds of groundbreaking advancements."

The LSX29: Advanced Technology for Fast Job Cycle Time

Komori will conduct four live demonstrations per day at Graph Expo 08 to highlight the fast job cycle time and the extreme versatility of the LSX29. The first demonstration of the day will be a 60 minute run that will let visitors see first hand the fast job cycle time. "We've demonstrated this format for the past two Graph Expo's and visitors continue to be amazed at how quickly we can get jobs on and off the press," says Doug Schardt, Komori America Sheetfed Product Manager.

The other three demonstrations on the LSX29 will highlight the versatility of the press by running a wide variety of paper stocks, from 70 lb. to 12 pt. board. "This press is ideal for a wide range of jobs from high end general commercial work, to labels, packaging and point of purchase," says Schardt.

Some of the features of the LSX29 include a high speed start function that reduces waste and quickly gets to a sellable sheet; suction tape feeder for enhanced feeding accuracy; fully automatic platechanging and the Komori highly automated console driven makeready functions including one touch blanket and impression cylinder cleaning.

The economical, small footprint convertible perfector Spica 29P

Also on display will be the four color Spica 29P, the ideal solution for printers entering the multicolor printing market or as a complementary press in larger format shops to handle overflow work. Geared toward short run, fast turnaround work, the economical, small footprint Spica 29P provides the high print quality inherent in the Komori brand. The Spica 29 is also available in a five color configuration that allows a varnish or additional color to be used in the fifth unit for even greater versatility. This press is CIP4 ready to further enhance productivity.

Komori's Graph Expo Partners: Fujifilm, Toyo Ink, Sappi

Komori and their vendor partners Fujifilm, Toyo Ink and Sappi fine paper will team to highlight the environmental benefit of their products working in tandem on the show floor. All four daily Spica 29P demonstrations will be running Fujifilm's Ecomaxx-T processless plates and Toyo Ink's HyPlus 100 eco-friendly inks. In addition, Komori will be running a new paper from Sappi called Tempo. Tempo is the fastest drying coated free sheet in the North American market, allowing two sided printed sheets to be bindery ready in half the time of standard coated paper. On the LSX29, Komori will run Sappi's, Lustro Offset Environmental (LOE) paper that is 30% post-consumer waste and Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified. Also on the LSX29, Komori will be demonstrating FujiFilm's color control tool, Taskero Universe. "Combining these eco-friendly products with the green features of the Komori product line allows printers to further reduce their carbon footprint," says Schardt.

DoNet Zone

In the DoNet zone, Komori will demonstrate their JDF integration tool, K-Station. K-Station works with the printer's job management system to provide a bi-directional interface, moving digital data throughout the entire production process. Visitors to the DoNet area will be able to preview Komori's latest version of K-Station. Demonstrations on Komori's new AI software will also be conducted in the DoNet area. In addition, Komori will be running EFI's job management systems showing the benefits of a JDF workflow.
