New Tints Books From Pantone have Added Features for Special Color Effects

Press release from the issuing company

Seybold Seminars Boston 2001 - April 9, 2001 - Pantone, Inc., the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the graphics, fashion, interior and industrial design industries, today announces new features for its popular tints book to satisfy the progressive needs of graphic designers and prepress professionals. Now a two-book set on coated and uncoated stock, PANTONE tints displays tints of over 1,100 solid PANTONE Colors from 10% to 80%. The latest enhancements include 147 new designer-inspired colors, the addition of 14 PANTONE Fluorescent colors and 14 PANTONE Metallic colors, and brighter paper stocks to reflect the most commonly specified paper by designers today. Colors are now printed in 175 line screen. The new two-book set also features a section of special screen effects, including custom screens, different line screens and ghosting. Tints are a creative and economical way to add variety and interesting design effects to solid color printing. Graphic designers and prepress professionals use PANTONE tints to accurately predict the effects that can be created with various screen tints of solid PANTONE Colors, including difficult to visualize halftones. PANTONE tints also make it easy to determine the legibility of reverse type and color or black surprinting. Tints can be applied using today’s popular design software, such as AdobeÒ PhotoshopÒ. "Having a solid printed point of reference for tint effects prevents costly mistakes," explained John De Francesco, vice president of Creative Services for Innovision Promotions, a New York City-based print promotion agency. "What you see on your computer screen or from your desktop printer does not truly represent what the final printed piece will look like because they are RGB and CMYK simulations of the solid printed color. The PANTONE tints books are an invaluable color reference that I always use to double-check the end result of my tint effects." Pricing and Availability PANTONE tints is now available for a suggested retail price of $269.00 from your local art supply distributor, direct from Pantone by calling 888-PANTONE or online at www.pantone.com.
