Oakdale, Minn. and San Bruno, Calif. (April 10, 2001) — Imation Corp. (NYSE:IMN) and RealTimeImage Inc. today announced their partnership for the development of the most comprehensive technology for virtual proofing in color-critical markets. Combining Imation's advanced color technology with RealTimeImage's unique, full resolution image-streaming, collaboration and color management tools will result in the Imation Matchprint Virtual Proofing System, a hardware/software color proofing system that is designed to deliver accurate CMYK color to the monitor. The companies expect to commercialize the system in Q4, 2001. "We are excited with the prospects our complementary technologies offer," said Barbara Cederberg, president, Imation Color Technologies. "Jointly we satisfy virtual proofing requirements for text and graphic placement, and also provide accurate CMYK color to the monitor for consistency throughout the workflow." Cederberg went on to say that Imation recognized the need for a strategic partner that could deliver the advanced online proofing capabilities needed to produce a color-accurate virtual proofing system when the Matchprint Virtual Proofing System was first conceived. "We are extremely pleased that RealTimeImage agreed to be that partner, working with us in development of an exciting new product to meet market needs." Designed to meet the various needs of graphic arts, corporate, and creative design professionals, the Imation Matchprint Virtual Proofing System enables high-end color-critical customers to accurately simulate Imation's industry-standard Matchprint proofs in an Application Service Provider (ASP) model hosted by RealTimeImage. Use of the Matchprint System will result in significant time compression in advertising and print production, and can be customized to a client's specific workflow. The Imation/RealTimeImage partnership combines Imation's industry-proven color proofing technologies, color profiling expertise and global leadership in color management with RealTimeImage's established expertise in full resolution, online color proofing workflows. "Our new partnership with Imation will result in not only an especially innovative solution, it will also have a great and positive impact on legitimizing online proofing with the market at large," said Zvi Eintracht, President and CEO of RealTimeImage. "Collaborating in "real time" means getting changes approved quickly, so design teams can progress onto their next jobs. It's a win for productivity and a win for the client who saves time and money."
