Bitstream Launches New Store for Finding, Trying, and Buying Fonts Online

Press release from the issuing company

CAMBRIDGE, MA — April 03, 2001 — Bitstream Inc. (Nasdaq: BITS) announced today the launch of a new online store for finding, trying, and buying fonts online. MyFonts.com, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bitstream, has provided the back-end programming necessary for graphic design professionals and casual users alike to try and buy fonts. All of the fonts in the Bitstream Typeface Library are available for online purchase. These include Bitstream originals, such as Bitstream Amerigo, Candy Bits, Oranda and the Prima font families. All of the fonts from the Bitstream New Font Collection are available, too, including Lindisfarne Nova, Liorah, and Melanie. Also online are complete Typographer Sets from these typeface families: Bitstream Cataneo, Bitstream Charter, Bitstream Chianti, and Bitstream Iowan Old Style. (Typographer Sets include ligatures, swashes, fractions, small caps, and old style and alternate characters.) Bitstream fonts have always been available for online purchase - but you had to know the name of the font you wanted to buy. Now you can find and try the fonts you need without this restriction. Customers can purchase fonts in all formats for all platforms - at one price. For instance, you can download the TrueType and PostScript Type 1 versions of fonts for Windows, and then download the same versions for Macintosh. In addition, customers can re-download the fonts at any time. There is no extra charge for any of these enhancements.
