XEIKON HIGHLIGHTS PRODUCTION DIGITAL PRINTING IN ACTION

Press release from the issuing company

3/01 - CeBIT 2001 'Real world' applications demonstrate in-depth strength in color and black-and-white production printing Hannover, 16th March 2001: Xeikon demonstrates the powerful capabilities of its color and black-and-white production digital printing systems with a range of 'real world' applications at CeBIT 2001. On two stands - its own and that of its value-added distributor CLC Nord, Hamburg - Xeikon shows three presses, including two models launched since the last CeBIT, the sheet-fed Xeikon CSP 320 D and the latest version of Xeikon's unique B2 format web press, the Xeikon DCP 500 D. Xeikon's extensive black-and-white range is represented by a Xeikon 7000 Single Engine Duplex configuration. The Xeikon CSP 320 D is targeted at companies taking their first steps in production digital printing. It prints 960 four-color A4 duplex pages per hour on standard stocks from A4 up to 320mm x 470mm. The Xeikon DCP 500 D is Xeikon's top-of-the-range digital color press. With a 500mm web width, it is also the only B2 format digital press on the market, and prints up to 130 pages per minutes. Both the CSP 320 D and the DCP 500 D feature Xeikon's patented One Pass Duplex imaging system. Designed for high-volume variable data applications, the Xeikon 7000 Twin Engine Duplex configuration prints up to 800 black-and-white pages per minute. 'Real world' applications Throughout the exhibition, all three presses will produce a range of applications that demonstrate the possibilities of digital printing for everything from short-run color and black-and-white commercial work to high-volume personalization. "Our production machines will stand out from the crowd of high-end office solutions at CeBIT," says Philipp Schlierer, Xeikon Germany's general manager, explaining that all the applications printed at the show are real-life digital print jobs drawn from a variety of markets, from commercial printing to direct marketing and transactional printing. "The message is that Xeikon digital printing is already established as an industrial-strength production tool in a wide variety of sectors. Our customers are constantly extending the boundaries and finding new solutions to old and new challenges. Visitors to the stand will be impressed by what they see." The CSP 320 D will print business cards and a product catalogue, while the DCP 500 D tackles two very different heavy-duty tasks - on the one hand, posters and on the other a variable data financial document that exploits Xeikon's implementation of the new PPML variable data standard. The Xeikon 7000 will produce three jobs - a contract document, a price list, and a children's painting book. With over 2,000 Xeikon color printing systems installed worldwide, of which a large number are in Germany, Xeikon is the leader in production digital color printing. Furthermore, Xeikon supplies a number of OEM customers, including IBM, MAN Roland and Xerox, and has a global network of over 40 value-added distributors (VADs). Throughout CeBIT, representatives of the company's value added distributors in Germany will be present — CLC Nord ( Hamburg ), SCS Schwarz (Flein and Leinfelden-Echterdingen), Lecloux AG (Berlin) and Rohrman Intergrafia (Koln).
