Xerox Named No. 2 on - Working Woman - Supplier Diversity List

ROCHESTER, N.Y., March 27, 2001  -- Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) has been ranked No. 2 on Working Woman magazine's first annual "Supplier Diversity" list, which recognizes the top 30 U.S. companies with the best track records for buying goods and services from minority- and women-owned businesses. "Working Woman congratulates Xerox Corporation on being named on our inaugural Supplier Diversity list," said Lisa Benenson, editorial director, Working Woman. "It is clear that Xerox understands the competitive advantages of working with women- and minority-owned businesses and has increasingly demonstrated its commitment to supplier diversity with its purchasing dollars and invaluable programs instituted to encourage business with this market." Xerox spent 27.5 percent, or $419 million, with minority and women businesses in 2000. The amount spent with minority suppliers was 10.7 percent, or $162.5 million. The amount spent with women suppliers was 16.8 percent, or $256 million. Xerox domestic purchasing spending overall was $1.5 billion. Xerox minority and women suppliers continue to keep pace with Xerox's overall global supplier base in the areas of quality, delivery and cost performance. "Xerox is committed to supplier diversity. Winning this recognition acknowledges our dedication," said Ursula Burns, senior vice president, Corporate Strategic Services, which handles global purchasing. "Ultimately, our customers benefit by receiving the best possible quality at the best price." Over the past six years, Xerox has purchased and received more than $2.1 billion in goods and services from its minority- and women-owned suppliers.
