Contex Introduces the NEW, Upgradeable Crystal 40" Scanner

Press release from the issuing company

March 22, 2001 [CeBIT Hannover, Germany In a remarkable breakthrough, Contex Scanning Technology, manufacturer of wide-format scanners and related software applications, has introduced a new scanner that may revolutionize the monochrome scanning industry: the Crystal 40" scanner. Crystal incorporates the latest in imaging technology and doubles its value as both a scanner and copier. Its extraordinarily high quality black and white images can be scanned at a full 600 dpi, however with a simple Smart Card upgrade, Crystal can obtain resolutions of 800 dpi. The Smart Card does even more. It upgrades Crystal's scanning speed from 3" per second to an impressive 6" per second. The Crystal's Dual 2D-Adaptive processing is the only pixel level cleanup of its kind in the industry. All Digital Image Processing is embedded in Crystal's hardware, producing powerful image enhancement without investing an enormous amount of time. Crisp, clean scans may then be easily made from poor quality drawings, sepias, blueprints and photos. "This faster speed capability, combined with a superior resolution capability give the end user a much higher productivity ratio", states Jorgen Rasmussen, Contex's Director of Development. "The quality that can be captured is 12 bits for maximum precision. Crystal then passes the best 8 bits of gray-tone on to the computer for the best output possible."
