C-SPAN 2: BookTV to Feature R.R. Donnelley

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO, March 9, 2001 -- C-SPAN 2's "BookTV" will feature R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company [NYSE:DNY] in a program about the publishing of "Deadlock: The Inside Story of America's Closest Election," the first book detailing the 2000 election to hit book store shelves. The 70-minute program titled "Anatomy of an Instant Book" will air at 11 a.m. and 8:20 p.m. Central time on Sunday, March 11, 2001. It will explore "instant" books - timely books that are published quickly - and the steps involved in publishing such titles. "Book TV" follows "Deadlock" through the publishing process from its conception, writing and editing to the production and printing phases. Printed at R.R. Donnelley's Crawfordsville, Ind., manufacturing plant, the book was written by political staff of the Washington Post and published by PublicAffairs, New York. "In the rush to have the first 2000 election book available, we were given only seven days to complete the project from file receipt to shipment," said Edward E. Lane, president, Book Publishing Services. "We exceeded expectations by printing and shipping 22,000 copies in just six days." On final day of book production, C-SPAN 2 toured the Crawfordsville facility and filmed the books as they were being printed and bound.
