PALO ALTO, Calif. & LIVONIA, Mich.-March 8, 2001--Coupons Inc., the leading provider of Internet-based technology solutions that enable secure home printing of coupons for businesses and consumers, and Valassis of Canada, a division of Valassis Communications, Inc. (NYSE:VCI) a leading marketing services company, today announced the launch of a new couponing Web site targeted at providing the Canadian consumer instant savings and information. The site, www.coupons.com, will go live for consumers on March 9, and will feature secure, print-at-home coupons in over six categories. With a simple click of the mouse and entry of only their postal code, consumers will be able to print free coupons to their home printer for in-store redemption. Both companies are promoting the site to marketers from consumer packaged goods manufacturers across Canada as part of the Canadian launch of Coupons, Inc., said Mitchell Barnes, Internet Product Leader, Valassis of Canada. "We are seeing tremendous response from marketers over the past month and already signed 16 top-notch brand name companies to provide coupons for the site. We believe the Canadian consumer is ready and waiting for the Web to help meet their couponing needs." Already popular in the United States, Coupons, Inc.'s Web site, www.coupons.com, is ranked as one of the fastest-growing sites by PC Data. The site averages over 1.7 million unique visitors a month and routinely returns in the top 10 percent of search engine results for searches on coupons. Coupons, Inc.'s secure, patent-pending technology enables the coupons to be printed on home printers with both industry standard barcoding, and proprietary 2-dimensional barcoding to ensure accurate redemption.
