SEATTLE, WA and BURLINGTON, MA -- February 28, 2001 -- Canopy LLC, a joint venture of PrimeSource and Xeikon and Roll Systems announced today that the companies have entered into a "preferred vendor" agreement to provide press and post-press solutions to the Xeikon digital press community. Xeikon digital color presses are recognized as leading the on-demand digital print market. By joining forces with Roll Systems, Canopy will be able to equip Xeikon digital color press systems with Roll Systems' Digital Color Unwinder as part of a complete digital printing solution. This teaming of technology will enable Canopy's customers to realize substantial, overall print productivity gains while increasing production efficiency. With the addition of the Digital Color Unwinder, Canopy customers will benefit by: Longer, uninterrupted operation by eliminating frequent re-threading of smaller rolls; Reducing waste and easing paper handling by the Color Unwinder's ability to process paper rolls up to 50 inches in diameter and its ability to use paper closer to the roll core; Allowing users to load larger rolls -- quicker and easier -- with the Color Unwinder's small footprint, shaftless design and cart-based loading system.
