Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO, March 6, 2001 -- R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (NYSE: DNY) has created the R.R. Donnelley Foundation, a private charitable foundation funded solely by the company. The foundation will assume responsibilities for the company's long-standing Contributions Program, including the Matching Gift and Dollars for Doers programs. Through the Foundation, the company will continue its commitment to the communities where its employees live and work. The guiding principles of the foundation are support of the written word and children and youth. "We are committed to be the neighbor and employer of choice in all of our communities," said Monica Fohrman, president of the R.R. Donnelley Foundation. "By creating the R.R. Donnelley Foundation, we are reinforcing that commitment and enhancing the value we bring to our donations and volunteer efforts." The R.R. Donnelley Foundation selected Seaway National Bank, one of the nation's largest minority-owned and managed banks, to manage its funds. The company's community relations department will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the foundation.
