Extensis Adds QuarkXPress Support to Preflight Online

Press release from the issuing company

PORTLAND, OR - March 6, 2001 - Extensis Products Group today announced that Preflight Online, its patent-pending online preflighting service, can now diagnose production problems in QuarkXPress files remotely via the Internet. With this new capability, Preflight Online still requires no additional desktop software or special training by commercial printers or their customers. Preflight Online now remotely inspects and analyzes QuarkXPress 4.x files, reporting on more than 60 different potential problems involving fonts, colors, images and other document specifications. The web-delivered service analyzes all fonts and images used within QuarkXPress documents to create a complete report that can be accessed by printers and service bureaus before customers even submit files for output at the printers. A demonstration of the service is available at http://www.extensis.com/preflightonline/ . In addition, Preflight Online now automatically collects all required fonts and linked images used in a QuarkXPress job and compresses them into a single archive for fast, accurate submission, virtually eliminating one of the most common problems that plagues service bureaus--jobs that contain missing elements. As with Preflight Online's file analysis, the entire collection and compression of jobs is performed within the web browser environment, without the need for additional desktop software. These new capabilities of Preflight Online, which also include enhanced support for Adobe PDF files, support QuarkXPress 4.x documents created on both the Mac and Windows platforms. The new features are automatically available to all current customers.
