Kern Launches New 3200 High-Performance Inserter, Completes Latest Family of Inserting Machines

Press release from the issuing company

Kern today announced the launch of the 3200, a high-performance, multi-format inserting system, introducing automatic switching between different envelope sizes for the first time to achieve faster changeover time between applications and class-leading uninterrupted processing. The new machine will come in three versions to cater for all speed requirements up to 24,000 envelopes per hour.

Kern’s first new high-speed inserter launched since 2016, the Kern 3200 can be used wherever there is demand for flexible and complex requirements and can handle both transactional and direct mail. The multi-format machine has a newly developed inserting module at its heart, which can be equipped with more than one envelope magazine. This unique concept in this class of inserter means different jobs can be run in succession, without an operator having to intervene and change envelopes.

Also announced was a faster version of Kern’s existing 1600 inserter machine, able to handle speeds of up to 16,000 envelopes an hour. Along with the three new 3200s, the expanded entry level 1600 range completes Kern’s inserter platform of six inserters, designed to cater for all industry requirements as many customers shift to shorter runs and demand more flexibility.

“Perfect for today’s direct mail requirement of processing multiple jobs on the same machine, the Kern 3200’s modular design ensures investment protection for the future and completes Kern’s new inserting platform of six inserters,” explained David Cox, Head of UK Sales at Kern. “With direct mail reasserting its importance during the pandemic, the newly expanded family of machines now reaches all customer budgets and inserting demands. Kern is known for its large volume, high speed inserting with total reliability and the 3200 cements this position. We expect high interest in the 3200 due to the flexible manner in which it can deliver multiple mail campaigns with one of the fastest job change-overs in the industry, while the cost-effective 1600 range ensures smaller jobs and budgets are now better catered for too.”

Kern’s 3200 solution demonstrates Kern innovation at the highest level and is the only system in its performance class that can be equipped with more than one envelope feeder. This means automatic envelope changeovers between C4, C5 and DL envelopes while running multiple jobs, achieving class-leading availability.

The Kern 3200’s three different models can offer speeds of up to 24,000 envelopes per hour, while the Kern 1600 can offer either 8,000, 12,000 or 16,000 envelopes per hour. Offering a wide range of possible applications, the Kern 3200 can be combined and equipped with a wide variety of modules including multi-channel solutions for special applications, multiple inputs in different performance classes, single-sheet inputs as well as various feeders for feeding inserts. It can be equipped with up to 16 insertion stations (friction or rotary feeders) while at the system exit, the system can be supplemented with the Print@Exit digital printing system.
