Electronics for Imaging Acquires Fairs Publishing Solutions Group

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, February 26,2001-- Electronics For Imaging, Inc. (EFI) (NASDAQ: EFII), the world leader in enabling networked printing solutions, has acquired the Publishing Solutions Group of Dutch IT specialists FAIR bv. Based in Amsterdam, FAIR specializes in implementing and managing extensive and complex IT projects in the high tech industry. Fair’s Publishing Solutions Group focuses on Variable Data Printing (VDP) applications for developing one-to-one marketing solutions. This is an area in which EFI is actively pursuing market leadership. The acquisition price was approximately $1 million U.S. The Publishing Solutions Group will be transferred to EFI’s European headquarters in Schiphol-Rijk, The Netherlands, joining EFI’s European Professional Services team. EFI Professional Services offers a variety of custom engineering and service options to help customers realize the full productivity, cost-savings and creativity benefits possible through implementing sophisticated digital networked printing solutions. The Fair Group’s extensive expertise in customized publishing solutions will enhance EFI’s Professional Services offerings. “This is an exciting acquisition which strengthens EFI’s capabilities in variable data printing,” commented Frank Mallozzi, EFI Vice President of Worldwide Field Sales. “Early in our discussions with FAIR, we recognized a natural synergy with its Publishing Solutions Group. By combining their proven publishing solutions with our professional services expertise, EFI can offer companies a total package to manage custom document processing and maximize the benefits of personalized communications.” FAIR’s variable data publishing technology goes beyond standard personalized letters. It enables a full range of content to be targeted to individual customers and automatically formatted for output on digital color print engines or in electronic formats for delivery on the Internet or an Intranet. The company has a track record of delivering solutions to large corporations throughout Europe in the financial, media, IT and automotive industries.
