ST. PAUL, MN — February 20, 2001 — Merrill Corporation (www.merrillcorp.com), a global diversified communications and document services provider, today announced that its Document Management Services (DMS) business has released UR-Law 2.1, an updated version of its browser-based information management system that allows attorneys to access their entire discovery database at any time and from any location. The new version of the product includes seamless integration between UR-Law and LiveNote*. LiveNote is the premier transcript management software among the world's leading litigators. The integration allows legal professionals to load, view and annotate transcripts using the viewing capabilities of LiveNote and the document management power of UR-Law. "Our integration with LiveNote now allows users of UR-Law to efficiently manage their deposition and trial transcripts within the same discovery database that contains other documents and images for a case," said Al McNee, president of Merrill's DMS business. "Moreover, UR-Law places this entire process on the Internet, enabling legal professionals to securely access the database from any location and to collaborate on various documents with their colleagues around the world." The newly released version also features a completely revised user interface that enables more efficient and simpler searching for documents. Now, users can obtain intuitive "quick glances" at results to determine whether they want to launch deeper searches into the database. UR-Law 2.1 also provides the ability to search across all document types within the database. Users of the new release can also review and tag documents faster. UR-Law 2.1 includes a user-friendly interface that allows legal professionals to quickly review documents for privilege status, confidentiality and issue coding. "This is the third enhanced version of UR-Law that we have released since May 2000, which demonstrates our commitment to becoming a leading player in this category of information management for law firms," McNee said.
