Xeikon Presents All in One Dry Digital Foto Finishing Line

Press release from the issuing company

2/14/01 - At PMA, Xeikon N.V. demonstrates its 'all in one' solution for the digital photofinishing market - the Dry Digital Foto Finishing line (D2F2) - capable of printing photo-quality images from both analog and digital sources in a wide range of formats. The system, Xeikon's entry into the digital photofinishing arena, was first demonstrated at Germany’s Photokina exhibition late last year, and now has its first US showing in Orlando. Xeikon's director of corporate planning Marc De Fré is confident that "the D2F2 solution can lead traditional wholesale photofinishing into the digital imaging era of the 21st century." D2F2 is a flexible 'all-in-one' solution handling 35mm film, APS film and digital camera images with equal ease and at a lower cost than traditional silver halide photo finishing systems. In a single pass, D2F2 prints and varnishes 8000 high-quality 10cm x 15cm (4" x 6") photo prints per hour (144 prints per minute) on professional photographic substrates . The system can accommodate a wide range of output formats - from 10 cm x 15 cm (4" x 6") up to 30 cm x 45 cm (12" x 18"), with the possibility to output even extremely long formats. To streamline production, D2F2 has an open architecture allowing optimal integration into digital image processing workflows. Xeikon's proprietary UCOAT inline coating system applies a UV coating to the photo print. The system operates at printing speed and transfers directly to inline cutting, sorting and packing devices.
