Cal Poly and Kodak Polychrome Graphics Build Partnership Education

Press release from the issuing company

Norwalk, CT, USA Kodak Polychrome Graphics is continuing its "partnership in education" program by donating a large annual supply of graphic arts consumable products to Cal Poly's 2001 Graphic Communication program. Three hundred Cal Poly students in the program will utilize the donated imagesetter film and computer-to-plate products in all prepress courses, as well as in the college's experiential student-run printing and publishing company called "University Graphic Systems". This program allows students to manage a printing and publishing company, and produce selected materials for the campus. "We are making an investment in the next generation of the printing industry," said Andrew Copley, president of Kodak Polychrome Graphics United States and Canada Region. "We're pleased to give something back to a school that produces the industry's future leaders." Cal Poly's Graphic Communication department is one of the best in the nation, offering students a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Communication with concentrations in Printing and Imaging Management, Electronic Publishing and Imaging, and Design Reproduction Technology. "Kodak Polychrome Graphics' generosity allows Cal Poly to educate students using the real products and technology in today's graphic communication market," said Harvey Levenson, department head of Cal Poly's Graphic Communication program. "This experience helps provide industry-ready graphic communication professionals, who are proficient with products produced by one of the leading manufacturers in our industry." The annual contribution is valued at approximately $30,000 in film and plate products. Having participated in the program for nearly 30 years, Kodak Polychrome Graphics is one of the longest supporters of graphic communication education at Cal Poly and other graphic communication programs at schools throughout North America.
