EAGAN, Minn. - (February 8, 2001) - WAM!NET Inc., a leading provider of information technology services, today announced that it has named Murad S. Velani to the position of vice president and general manager, WAM!NET Professional Services Inc. Velani joins WAM!NET from Carlson Corporation (Minneapolis) where he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He brings more than 17 years experience to WAM!NET, having served in a variety of sales and marketing, information services, information technology and e-commerce executive management positions with both public and private companies. Velani's extensive background includes a proven track record developing and launching several profitable e-commerce businesses within Carlson Companies and, prior to that, Deluxe Corporation (Minneapolis). He also led the establishment of numerous professional and technical services organizations with particular focus on driving revenue growth and profits, lowering costs, delivering superior customer service, and implementing efficient organizational structures. Previously, Velani held management consulting, and marketing and sales positions with IBM, specializing in process management, quality improvement and aligning information technology with business objectives.
