Wilmington, Massachusetts, January 29, 2001 - Agfa Monotype Corporation today announced an agreement with Hewlett-Packard Company to license Agfa Monotype's PostScript(r) Level 3-compatible font solution. The agreement is expected to allow HP to provide its customers fully compatible PostScript 3 fonts to use with HP LaserJet and Deskjet printers. Agfa Monotype's solution includes 136 fonts, complete with original trademarked names, representing the full set of the PostScript 3 solution. Supplied as TrueType(r) data, the fonts are expected to be available for use on a variety of HP's printers through various technologies, including downloadable soft fonts, ROM fonts, and other mass storage solutions, such as DIMM. The fonts are fully PostScript 3-compatible in design and metrics, allowing for effortless portability when used to compose, distribute and print documents created using the PostScript 3-compatible standard font set. Agfa Monotype signed the first in a series of long-term agreements with HP 12 years ago. Since then, Agfa Monotype has been working with HP teams to create customized bitmap and scalable font solutions for global product applications.
