Featuring Polar 78 and networking link with Heidelberg booth Hofheim Germany-- CeBIT is regarded as the most widely known information technology fair second only to the drupa. The trade show is an important marketplace for companies targeting customers in the field between information technology and printing. Information technology, press and postpress are now being networked closer and closer together. In order to work faster and more cost-effectively, companies want to be able to compile their data only once, and then use it in as many processes as possible. Cutting is one of the primary finishing processes in printed material production. By cutting the product, it is finally given the shape as already defined in prepress. Smooth and neatly cut edges increase the quality of the final product and allow it to stand apart from other products. Today it is quite unimaginable to hand over printed matter untrimmed, or with a "ragged" edge, if your presentation is to achieve a high-quality result. This is the reason why POLAR is represented at CeBIT. The Polar display is at the 850-sq. meter stand of Heidelberg, with the POLAR 66 high-speed cutter for finishing small-sized material up to DIN A3. In this area, POLAR 66 is assigned to "Quick Print" and "Digital" Solutions. In addition, the networking possibilities that COMPUCUT provides are presented here. The well-known POLAR booth in Hall 1, Stand 4c2, gives an idea about the linkage between prepress and postpress by networking the stand with Heidelberg's. From Heidelberg's booth the prepress data is sent over for generating cutting programs. In this way, printed matter up to size DIN A2 can be cut on the POLAR 78 ED with virtually no setup time. POLAR COMPUCUT provides the linkage to prepress. POLAR will demonstrate this outstanding technology for the first time "live" at CeBIT 2001 by networking two fair stands on different sites.
