New High-Speed Media Features Fastest Write/ReWrite Speeds Available

OAKDALE, Minn. Imation Corp. (NYSE: IMN), a worldwide leader in data storage and information management, today announced the availability of its new 10X CD-RW media – a high-speed rewritable CD featuring increased recording speed and noise-free playback with a capacity of 650 MB. Imation 4X-10x High-Speed CD-RW media are compatible for recording with the latest CD-RW drives which feature the High-Speed Logo. The media can be used for playback by existing multi-read drives such as CD-ROM, DVD-ROM and rewritable DVD. “The demand for data storage is no longer focused only on capacity – it is also on speed. Today’s customers want and demand the ability to save information at the highest speed possible,” said Steve Carter, general manager of Personal Solutions for Imation’s Data Storage and Information Management business. “Imation’s 4X-10X high-speed media address these needs by offering users exactly what they want – high capacity storage combined with the fastest write and rewrite speeds available.” The 10X high-speed media is ideal for storing multimedia presentations, ripping CDs, archiving video files, downloading information from the Internet, or backing up system applications. With the addition of 10X CD-RW media, Imation’s full portfolio of optical storage solutions includes DVD-RAM, 16X CD-R, 4-10X CD-RW and CD-R DA media, as well as CD-RW drives. Slated for availability in early 2001, Imation 10X media will be available in 5-packs at an estimated street price of $14.99.
