Apple Delivers New Power Mac G4

MACWORLD EXPO, SAN FRANCISCO—Apple® today introduced a new Power Mac™ G4 line with PowerPC G4 processors running up to 733 MHz, a new high-performance architecture featuring 133 MHz system and memory buses and five slots for increased expandability. The new Power Mac G4 line features CD-RW drives in all models. In addition, Apple unveiled its revolutionary new SuperDrive, a combination CD-RW/DVD-R drive that can read and write (“burn”) DVDs which can be played in consumer DVD players. The Apple SuperDrive comes standard in the top Power Mac G4 model. With Apple’s new iTunes, the world’s coolest and easiest to use “jukebox” software, all G4 users can burn their own standard audio CDs with the Power Mac G4’s new built-in CD-RW drives. In addition, the Power Mac G4’s revolutionary new SuperDrive and Apple’s amazing new iDVD™ and DV Studio Pro™ software applications let Power Mac G4 users easily and affordably create professional quality DVD videos for playback on consumer DVD players. “With the new Power Mac G4s, Apple has created the first complete solution for CD and DVD authoring,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Apple’s revolutionary SuperDrive, which can ‘burn’ both CDs and consumer player-compatible DVDs, combined with Apple’s new iTunes and iDVD applications, creates a solution that is years ahead of everyone else.”
