Adobe InDesign Gets Boost with Enhanced Printing Capabilities

Press release from the issuing company

San Jose, Calif., - In an effort to give service providers and the design community a competitive advantage, Adobe Systems Incorporated has increased the printing capabilities of Adobe® InDesign™ software, its innovative, modern page layout program. The updated version—InDesign 1.5.2—provides tighter integration with print production workflows, as well as non-PostScript printing support for Macintosh users. The upgrade is available at no charge from Adobe to registered InDesign users and may be downloaded at www.adobe.com/products/indesign/update.html. The new version provides better compatibility with widely used prepress applications so designers and printing professionals can produce consistent, high-quality work. For example, it integrates more tightly with standard prepress applications, such as Artwork Systems ArtPro, ScenicSoft Preps and TrapWise, as well as with Agfa, Creo-Scitex, Heidelberg, Harlequin, Hewlett-Packard, and Xerox systems. Macintosh users now also have more choices when printing with the included support for non-PostScript inkjet printers. "With Adobe InDesign 1.5.2, Adobe has once again shown its responsiveness to customer needs—this is vital, as InDesign will be an important cornerstone of our forthcoming next-generation publishing system," said Jeffrey Fulton, Technology Director for Time Inc.'s Business Information Group.
