NEW YORK,- Bowne & Co., Inc. (NYSE: BNE),the world's largest financial printer and a leader in document and information management, today announced the promotion of Carl J. Crosetto, 52, to president, Bowne & Co., Inc., effective January 1, 2001. Carl has been serving as Executive Vice President since 1998. As president, he continues in his position as a member of the Office of the Chairman, with Robert M. Johnson, chairman and CEO. Commenting on the promotion, Johnson said, "In the past year, Carl has been of enormous assistance as we have tackled the issues surrounding the need to further integrate and unify our various business units. His long and successful history in financial printing, coupled with his vision of the changes that confront that business, make Carl the ideal partner to continue to work with me in the Office of the Chairman." Crosetto's promotion was approved at a recent meeting of Bowne's Board of Directors. He succeeds Johnson, who assumed the position following the untimely death of James O'Neil in January, 2000.
