Heidelberg and T/R Systems Announce Joint Collaboration

Press release from the issuing company

Micropress X Series At Heart of Alliance NEW YORK--April 23, 2002-- T/R SYSTEMS, INC., a leader in developing innovative solutions for the management and production of digital documents, and Heidelberg, the world's largest print media solutions provider, announced today that they will collaborate to develop digital solutions for their customers. This announcement was made at the On Demand Digital Printing & Publishing Strategy Conference and Exposition in New York City. The first result of this collaboration is MicroPress X Series connectivity to the Heidelberg Digimaster 9110 Network Imaging System. Heidelberg also plans to provide engineering support to T/R Systems for the development of connectivity to future Heidelberg printer systems. T/R Systems' MicroPress X Series is a document production server for print-on-demand (POD) customers that bridges the gap between low-volume workgroup printing and high-volume centralized printing. By combining powerful document "make-ready" capabilities, advanced job management and workflow tools and unique print device connectivity options, the MicroPress X Series provides customers with a scalable production printing system. The MicroPress X Series includes the MicroPress SX, DX and MX models, each of which addresses a different segment of the POD market from low- to high-volume. The Digimaster 9110 print system employs high-definition imaging technology to deliver documents with fine text and rich graphics at 600 x 600 dpi, at a rate of 110 images per minute. The Digimaster system is offered in four standard configurations - as a printer, a duplicator, a duplicator/printer and a deluxe duplicator/printer. The engine is equipped with a Web browser-based user interface that provides easy access to the device's services from almost anywhere. "Heidelberg is the market leader in meeting the needs of production print environments," said Michael Kohlsdorf, president and CEO of T/R Systems. "The fact that Heidelberg has chosen the MicroPress X Series to complement the Digimaster 9110 print system is a strong testament to the power of T/R Systems' products. We are very pleased with this acknowledgement, which will allow us to broaden the reach of our powerful document production solutions." "Our primary goal at Heidelberg has always been, and continues to be, to meet the needs of our customers," said Wolfgang Pfizenmaier, president of Heidelberg's Digital Solution Center. "By working closely with T/R Systems, we will be able to better provide the software our customers need to make the most of their investment in our Digimaster 9110 print system."
