Most significantly, IKON can provide customers in production environments the ability to split B&W and color print jobs between a Canon imageRUNNER 110 high-speed monochrome engine and their choice of either a Canon CLC 5000 or Ricoh Aficio 6513 color copier/printer. The complete lineup of supported output devices includes: Ricoh Aficio 551, 700, 1085, 1105 (digital black & white printers/copiers) and Aficio Color 6513; Canon imageRUNNER 60, 600, 7200, 8500, 105, 110 and the CLC 5000 (color production system); and Oce 3165, as well as a wide variety of Hewlett-Packard network printers. Available from IKON in three different configurations, MicroPress distributed output management servers clusters up to 12 output devices to effectively calculate toner coverage, provide job previews, facilitate archiving, scheduling and more. "Expansion of T/R Systems' MicroPress functionality supports IKON's approach to provide best-of-breed technology to our customers, allowing them to choose the right mix of copiers, printers and software enablers to meet their unique workflow requirements," saidCathy Lewis, Senior Vice President of Marketing for IKON Office Solutions. "Our ability to sell and support solutions nationwide from multiple manufacturers gives us an edge over our competition." "The MicroPress X Series satisfies a very broad segment of the POD market," said Michael Kohlsdorf, president and CEO of T/R Systems. "In the last 30 days, we have announced MicroPress connectivity for 10 new print devices. This increasing device support, combined with the robust feature-set of the MicroPress, enables IKON to meet the unique needs of a wide range of POD users." The MicroPress also works hand in hand with T/R Systems' Digital StoreFront, a browser-based software tool that allows users to submit print jobs in their native applications, automatically transforming them into PDF format for convenient proofing, pricing and cataloging. Digital StoreFront creates a job ticket to match customer specifications and automatically integrates the document into the print provider's workflow. "Digital StoreFront allows print-for-pay shops, central reprographics departments and universities to improve customer service through the Internet," said Ed Borgo, Vice President of Production Marketing for IKON Office Solutions. "The powerful combination of Digital StoreFront and MicroPress-enabled workflow not only extends a production center's reach, but also allows them to provide quicker turnaround on a greater number of jobs."
