FosterGrant Streamlines Forms Processing With ACOM

Press release from the issuing company

Expects Greater Flexibility, Faster Output, Significant Savings SMITHFIELD, R.I. and LONG BEACH, Calif.--April 22, 2002--FosterGrant, the leading manufacturer and distributor of sunglasses and nonprescription reading glasses, has purchased ACOM Solutions' EZeDocs document output management solution and is currently readying the new system for production, it was announced today by Gregory T. Church, ACOM vice president of marketing, communications and product management. ACOM's EZeDocs is a modular, scalable electronic document generation, distribution and management system that allows companies to replace conventional business forms with customized electronic templates and deliver completed documents as laser-printed hard copies, by email, fax, or webforms, or as PDF files. According to Director of Information Technology Martin Temple, the initial documents implemented in the EZeDocs print module include pick slips, packing slips and invoices, "...with a lot more to follow." Data from FosterGrant's ERP system is merged with the respective form template as documents are needed, with the completed documents then printed or transmitted as required. "We acquired EZeDocs in order to achieve greater form flexibility and to take advantage of the ability to generate completed forms on blank paper using our high-speed laser printers," Temple said. "Besides producing critical documents locally, we will now be able to package data using electronic templates and send it to remote locations for generation as completed documents at the receiving site. Considering the high cost of preprinted multi-part forms, we expect to realize huge savings on printing and mailing." According to Temple, EZeDocs offers many opportunities. "We generate close to one million pick tickets per year, and coordinating all of those preprinted ticket forms has been an enormous task," he said. "We also have over 500 service representatives in the field who reorder using preprinted forms. With EZeDocs we have an opportunity to generate these forms dynamically as the product mix changes and send them with the shipments."
