GSMA Intelligence Mobile Trends

By Dr. Joe Webb
Published: October 27, 2016

GSMA Intelligence's Mobile Trends report is a free download, and it's packed with worldwide and regional information about the adoption of mobile technologies.

Smartphones are part of the “mobile first” trend, where when consumers desire to connect to anything, they go for their smartphone first, rather than a desktop or notebook computer.

Digital media adoption has been driven by convenience and immediacy, and a surge in use is underway, with technologies such as artificial intelligence as a critical enabler.

The term “Internet of Things” has been bandied about for years, and while its adoption has taken longer than the futurists expected, it appears to finally be underway in a notable way. Can printed goods be part of the process? They certainly can.

Printers who avoided digital media have some new technologies they can use to enrich what they produce. This is a trend well worth pursuing in their own businesses and in the products they offer to clients.
