Donnelley and Bowne: Financial Printing Powerhouse

Close on the heels of the Quad/Graphics announcement that they would be acquiring World Color Press, another industry giant has announced a buy. R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (NASDAQ: RRD) and Bowne & Co., Inc. (NYSE: BNE) announced that they have signed an agreement for RR Donnelley to acquire Bowne for approximately $481 million in cash, or $11.50 per share.

RR Donnelley, the largest printer in the Americas and headquartered in Chicago, had revenues of approximately $11.6 billion during 2009 and offers a suite of Internet-based capabilities and other resources to provide premedia, printing, logistics and business process outsourcing products and services.

Bowne, headquartered in New York, had revenues of approximately $675 million during 2009 and offers digital one-to-one printing services for healthcare, transactional communications, financial services, marketing communications, and other applications.
