January 2014 US commercial printing shipments were $6.07 billion, down -$378 million (-5.9%) compared to 2013. On an inflation-adjusted basis, they were down -$469 million (-7.2%). December 2013 shipments were revised up slightly, by +$13 million. That made 2013's annual shipments $77.67 billion, down -$3.6 billion (-3.7%) compared to 2012, and down -$4.8 billion (-5.1%) after adjusting for inflation. The first half of 2013 was down -2.2%, while the last six months were down -5.1% in current dollars, and on an inflation-adjusted basis -3.7% and -6.4%, respectively. The digital media shift seems to have shifted into a higher gear starting in June 2012. This is not the "final" final figure for 2013 annual shipments; the Commerce Department makes multi-year revisions to their shipments data every May. Those changes do not change overall trends, but can be in the range of  as much as +/- 2%. # # #
