One of the categories in our annual WhatTheyThink Environmental Innovation Awards is “Sustainability and Your Community,” which we include to recognize the positive impacts that companies—in our case, printing and publishing companies—can have on the communities in which they are located. Sustainability is not just about the efforts of the individual, the consumer, or the product or service provider, but also the overall community. So the EPA has honored seven community sustainability projects, winners of its 2012 National Awards for Smart Growth Achievement.
the smart growth awards are given for creative, outstanding initiatives that protect the health and the environment of our communities while also strengthening local economies.
Let these examples serve as inspiration for further initiatives.
