bzstrt_print09_chi_090911_067Print 09 may be history, but we've captured some of the flurry and excitement as background in this video filmed in the Mohawk Fine Papers booth. A transcript of Melissa Steven's comments follows. . green-line-divider1-300x6 green-line-divider1-300x6 Melissa Stevens, National Accounts Manager, Mohawk Fine Papers With Mohawk, we have always believed the need to have recycled content products as part of our product offering. Long before legislation and mandates had been put in place, we provided it. In fact Mohawk Fine Papers was the first mill to make a coated sheet with 15% post consumer content which is 50% more than the 10% current standard for coated papers. With that we’ve grown and continued to expand our offering. Recently we acquired the Smart Paper brand with an extensive selection of recycled papers, 30% up to 100%. But the really wonderful thing there is that we now have color, texture, fibers, and a variety. I think it’s being able to provide that to a customer base that is truly looking for recycled papers will only help us continue to see the up tick in our sales. With that, I would tell you that within the last four years, we’ve seen almost double digit growth in our recycled papers that contain 30% PCW, or more. That really comes from, I believe, customers truly understanding that quality, availability and cost don’t have to hamper a decision to make a sustainable paper choice. Another tool that has been very valuable is our Environmental Savings Calculator. It is an online tool where customers can go to input the information from their projects and see the tangible savings in a project that uses 30%, 100% post consumer content, with 100% renewable energy in lieu of a virgin fiber sheet. When they put all the information together, they’re very inclined to use recycled paper.
