In a period when revenues are flat or declining, it’s encouraging to find a company that has had continuous growth for 9 years – including 2008 and the first half of 2009! GMC Software Technology, headquartered in Appenzell, Switzerland, is that company! With over 800 customers served by 300 plus employees, the company grew to $40 million in 2008 and is online to finish 2009 close to $48 million. Bill Parker, CMO,  rolled out the products and Jeffery DeVoyd, Vice President of Product Marketing, provided the technical details. Open Document Publisher is designed to deal with the daily office mail that comes off every desk in a company. Most often letters and other documents are printed on a desktop or departmental printer all day long, then collected in the “mail room,” franked, and posted. Except in the very largest operations, no attempt is made to take advantage of postal discounts available for barcoding or sorting the mail. [caption id="attachment_4385" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Jeffery DeVoyd, GMC"]GMC Media Days[/caption] Print data streams for outgoing documents are captured before they are printed, the files are then routed to the Open Document Publisher where all the documents are merged, duplicates are identified, addresses are cleansed, barcodes are applied, and the documents are sorted for distribution. Archives and reports provide insight into sources, targets, and contents for monitoring and compliance. The solution provides a “greener” option to traditional white mail by consolidating printing in a centralized facility where equipment and staff are more efficient, optimizes the distribution network through distribute and print – or view – and reduces the need for preprinted shells and letterheads. Portal Builder is designed to make it easy to create and publish new storefronts with static or variable/versioned items. Online storefronts are now a necessity for doing business as a print or marketing services provider and it’s no longer cost effective to be forced to use specially trained staff or consultants to offer online services. Portal Builder is a desktop publisher for web to print storefronts; “one click publishing.” The goal of good direct marketers is to deliver the right offer for the right product at the right price to the right person at the right time. Not only is it good business to be able to target an audience of one, it is green business: no marketing messages are delivered to anyone who doesn't want them. No waste! GMC Software has formed a new company, GMC Analytics, to provide software and services that will initiate 360-degree conversations between marketers and their customers and prospects.
