DMA09 Direct marketers go green? Now before you laugh up your sleeve, the answer is yes! Direct marketing professionals want to make sure they deliver their messages to the right people at the right time, making the right offer for the right product at the right price. AND be environmentally responsible while doing it. This year at the DMA 09 Conference and Expo in San Diego, October 17-22, there are two sessions that are part of the new Environmentally Responsible Marketer Certificate Program. Professionals who complete the 11-course curriculum will earn an ERM Certificate and have the knowledge to consider envrionmental outcomes in their overall direct marketing planning, strategy, and tactical decision-making. The two sessions offered in October are:
  • Understand & Calculate the Carbon Footprint of your Marketing Campaign (Print & Digital)
  • Going Green in a Global Marketplace: International Trends in Green Marketing
Separately there is a session titled, Using Data Quality Technologies to "Go Green," where attendees will learn about affordable data quality strategies that will enable them to optimize marketing spend, "green" marketing campaigns, and reach targeted prospects with a single promotion. New for 2009, is the ECHO Green Marketing Award which recognizes the most creative and strategic use of eco-responsible marketing tactics to deliver outstanding results, from a response or return on investment perspective, while affecting the environment in positive ways.
