Catalogs.com has introduced an iPad application for browsing catalogs that is attracting such big-name retailers as Home Depot and Petco. The news comes on the heels of the launch of an iPad application by Neiman Marcus for its Christmas catalog. Catalogs.com was launched in 1996 as a shopping Web site that enables browsers to find online versions of many popular catalogs in one location. Some of the brands on the Web site include MacConnection, Little Tikes and Spiegel. With the growing popularity of iPads as a tool for experiencing content in a new way, the launch of the Catalogs.com for iPad application is attracting new retailers to Catalogs.com, such as Home Depot and Petco. "We're hearing from retailers that they want to be in all of the mobile apps out there," said Richard Linevsky, president and co-founder of Catalogs.com, in a phone interview. Catalogs.com wants to help retailers achieve this goal with its iPad application, which retailers can participate in whether they have a print catalog or not. Catalogs.com will also bring the app to other mobile devices like the iPhone and Android in the near future. The free application enables users to turn pages with a fingertip, zoom in on products for details, tap to buy a product from a catalog’s online store and build a wish list from multiple catalogs. It is available for download at catalogs.com/ipad or from the iTunes app store. Shoppers on the new application will also find exclusive offers, including free shipping, discounts and other specials. “We wanted to deliver an incredibly innovative approach to the world of catalogs, to allow the customer to touch their favorite products and bring the shopping experience home,” said Linevsky, in a statement.
