Twenty or so years ago when I had more hair and less money I remember clipping coupons. I don’t know about you but I don’t have time to do many things including clipping grocery store coupons anymore. Instead I depend on my loyalty card and hope that when the store scans my card a coupon exists. In focus groups consumers often request that stores and manufacturers combine the loyalty card with coupons. Recent technologies are making this request a reality. YOU Technology, an emerging leader in digital marketing solutions, recently announced that The Kroger Co. has launched its new Digital Coupon Center. The newly unveiled Coupon Center is accessible through its website at www.kroger.com/digitalcoupons, the Kroger home page, and the respective websites of each of its family of stores. The Kroger solution enables customers to load coupons onto their loyalty-card accounts. The discount is then automatically deducted at checkout without a paper coupon. Once logged into the Coupon Center, shoppers can select from more than 100 relevant coupons, digitally "clip" as many as they'd like, and load them directly to their Kroger Plus Card. At checkout, shoppers scan their Plus Card or enter an alternative ID (typically a phone number), and the discounts are automatically deducted from their bill. The Digital Coupon Center contains digital coupons for popular brands as well as offers for Kroger Private Selection and other Kroger brand products. The new coupon center offers discounts on both name-brand and store-brand items, with coupons the chain says are "web-exclusive." To download the coupons, you must have an active Kroger shopper's card. After registering your card number to the website, you can click on the desired coupons to download. It's important to note that the coupons have expiration dates. Shoppers can review and print their list of coupons through the "My Coupons" link in their website account. The fine print says each coupon can be used once and will not be doubled, unless otherwise noted. A maximum of 150 coupons can be loaded onto the card at one time. Admittedly, most often coupons are associated with grocery store chains. But they are used for many products and many stores. For example, I get fliers from stores like Microcenter, Cabala’s, VW, and yes even printing companies. Many companies swear to the success of their loyalty cards or coupons.
